daniel kokotajlo's new film apostasy has it's world premiere at the toronto international film festival in september 2017. apostasy.
family and faith come into conflict for two jehovah’s witness sisters in manchester, when one is condemned for fornication and the other pressured to shun her sibling.. this fresh, unadorned first feature from director dan kokotajlo carries an unmistakable note of authenticity from its very first scenes.
set in a jehovah's witness community in england, the film's strength and power lies in its directness.. apostasy depicts the growing rift in a family — a mother and two daughters — who are rigorously devoted to their religion.
a gloomy movie.
i disagree. But then it is a British film--and i am a Brit. I really enjoyed it..but it could have run longer. I bought the dvd, still have it somewhere.
so last night my bible study group was discussing the healing of the blind man in john's gospel.
ch 9 .
the man's parents were reluctant to say much on the subject.
i couldnt be disfellowshipped ! So said the congregation overseer...because i had resigned from the religion years before...but i did attend meetings sometimes to appease the wife. Instead it was announced that i should be shunned as an apostate. That was announced in my absence..and it drew a firm line under any more involvement with the cult.
me i slowly came to see religion was a crutch we use to dream of a better "afterlife"....i feel half my life was wasted building an organisation that had no criminal mastermind behind it...just alot of mislead people looking for leadership.
if your still religious explain why..
i was born atheist.
now--i dont believe anything, just to be on the safe side.
